Summer is the PERFECT time to go and see all of your favorite music artists!!! And with the abundance of amazing tours happening this summer, I thought it would be fun to put together different looks for each of the various artists! Because we all know that fashion is ALMOST as important as the actual music ;)
What other concerts are you going to this summer!? Any conerts that you would like to see looks for??? Let us know in the comments below!!!! Part 2 will come later in the summer based on your comments!
**Just figured out that I never posted this at the end of April! Oh well better late then never!!! New SUMMER post will be posted in the next few days!! PROMISE! :)***
Welcome back! Here is part 2 of our April Beauty Favorites. For part 1, click HERE!
This portion of our Beauty Favorites is about makeup. Hope you enjoy and maybe find new products to try out!
Beautifully Disney Eye Shadow Pallet in Enchanted Kiss- According to a nice worker at Disneyland, Disney just came out with this new makeup line called "Beautifully Disney." I was a little skeptical at first, however I am SOOO glad I purchased this pallet. Disney has collaborated with OPI and other make-up brands, but this is their very own formula. I LOVE the colors! They blend really nicely and work well together. It's my favorite eye shadow right now! I can't wait for Diseny to come out with more! You can only purchase them in their parks OR at this website! Yay for internet!
Urban Decay Eye Shadow in YDK- Amazing color! Goes really well with the pallet above. Awesome color for your eye crease! It does have some sassy shimmer to it, but it's not overwhelming!
NYX Doll Eye Mascara in JET BLACK & Volume- A favorite for both of us!! This mascara comes in different formulas for lengthening, volume, etc.. This mascara opens your eyes and gives a great look! Definitely my top mascara of all time thus far! Try it!
Wet & Wild 380B Eye Shadow Pallet in Walking on Egg Shells- Another great neutral pallet. Very easy to apply given they tell you where to put each color. (Forgive my photo, i've used this a lot). Wet & Wild is really cheap in price but this eye shadow has a great formula! There is no difference between this and higher end brands... yup it's that good!
Both are great everyday blushes that go on smooth :) Easy to apply both without going overboard in my opinon.
What are some of your favorite beauty products from this month?! Let us know in the comments below! Also, let us know if you would be intersted in a video version of these types of post!!!
It's that time again! We want to share with you our April Favorites: Beauty Edition! This is part 1 of 2. Tomorrow will be another Beauty Edition post! (This one was too long, so we had to cut it in half so you did not fall asleep). THEN early next week, we will also share with you some of our non-beauty related April Favorites as well! Musics, books, magazines, clothes, etc... Get excited.
So let's start!
(from left to right)
1. The Original Beauty Blender- oh the beauty blender! This is quite possibly the best thing ever invented. This pink little sponge helps to create a flawless, almost airbrushed foundation application. All you do is put it under the sink, let it expand, squeeze the excess water out, and use it! Easy as that!!!
2. The Tangle Teaser- ok I lied. THIS is the best thing ever invented! Ever since I was a wee one, I have been blessed with tangled hair. I really wish this would have been around when I was little. This itsy bitsy piece of orange plastic would have saved my mom and I from many mornings of "OOOOWWWEE YOUR HURTING ME!!!WHAT'S HAPPENING!??!!?THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER" while she combed my hair. You don't even feel a THING when you comb your hair with this bad boy. Amazing. Life changing. Definitely in my Dora-style backpack if I get stranded on a desert island one day.
3. Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush- this fruity/floral dry shampoo is the ONLY dry shampoo that doesn't smell like a sour washcloth to me. It's no secret that I do NOT wash my hair everyday. I like to say I don't wash it everyday because it's better for my hair and makes it healthier. In reality- i"m too lazy. So this dry shampoo is the solution for those "it's kinda rough" days.
St. Tropez Self Taner Mousse and Lotion- FINALLY! A self tanner that doesn't smell like a sweaty, crowded beach full of overly tanned people! FINALLY! A self tanner that makes me look bronze not orange a la an Oompa Loompa. FINALLY! A self tanner that doesn't streak!!!!!! All you have to do is get THIS mitt, apply and enjoy!! Take my word for it, it's totally worth the $$.
I'm going to split these face products up to give you a better description!
1. Origins Plantscription Anti-aging eye cream- Imma be honest. I got this little green tub of loveliness free at Sephora because I spent too much money. Much to my own happiness (and empty wallet), it is a GREAT night eye cream! I LOVE IT! I think it would be a little too heavy for daytime, but at night it's fantastic!
2. Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream- Although I think this is WAY overpriced for a drugstore cream... in comparison to high end creams it's REAL cheap. This is a very thick face lotion. I use it ONLY at night on my face and neck. A little goes a long way. I like to think that it's helping me avoid wrinkles for as long as possible. Not sure if it is doing that, but I do know it's very moisterizing! Also, I have always broken out when it comes to night creams and this DOES NOT break me out at all. That in itself is a miracle of miracles.
1. Michael Todd Cranbery Antiox Toner- Feels good. Faint decent smell. Does the job. :) And it's organic so it reassures me I"m not completely exposing myself to every bad make-up chemical in the world.
2. Michael Todd JoJoba Charcoal Face Scrub- I absolutely LOVE the consistency of this scrub. Most scrubs, that I have used in the past, have been a little too harsh and grainy. This does a great job refreshing and exfoliating my face without that harsh feeling. And it's fun to say Jojoba.
3. Josie Maran Argan Oil Moisturizer with SPF 40- I really just bought this for the SPF. I love my Origins day cream, however it has no SPF. So I use this little bottle with my Origins moisturizer, and I have the best of both worlds. I always burn on my nose and forehead... so I focus on those areas the most.
Debroah Lippmann Gel Lab- HOLY GRAIL ALERT! I will NEVER paint my nails again without this product. Go get you some asap!!!!! Don't focus on the grammar of that last statement! Get in your car and go get this product!!!! It turns ANY nail polish into a gel nail polish WITHOUT the harsh chemicals or lights! IT"S AMAZING! It comes with a base and top coat. You put your base coat on, then your nail polish o'choice, then the top coat and VOILA! I did this last Friday and it is just NOW starting to slightly chip... slightly.. That's a world record for me and nail polish. Read the rest of this blog entry, get in your car, buy it, use it and comment on this blog post and tell me how you like it... GO!
I may or may not have a Subscription Box addiction... :) For those of you who don't know what subscription boxes are - they are boxes that are sent to you monthly- and you have NO IDEA what is going to be in them! Boxes like BIrchbox, Ipsy, and Glossybox are beauty boxes that have samples of different beauty type products in them. PopSugar Must Have boxes have various types of products from beauty to fashion to housewears and more. Here are the boxes I received for April 2013, and my thoughts on each of them!
This is actually my very FIRST Ipsy box. I was on a waitlist for quite some time, however I finally received my first box this month. I love that it has a "Pretty in Pink" theme! I do love pink! I have not tried these products yet, so I can not give a thorough review but I can let you know what each product is incase YOU want to try any!
(from left to right)
1. miss Sation Nail Lacquer for ipsy (in the color Love at First Byte)
Since this is my first box, I don't want to judge it too much. I like the idea and colors. I wish the nail polish was a bit brighter. I am interested to see how these products work. I LOVE that Ipsy boxes come with a small cosmetics bag each month! This pink and white bag is very cute and is very well made.
I have been receiving Birchbox for about 4 months now. I really enjoy their boxes for the most part. I feel like you get a lot for just $10. I also like the quality of products they use in their boxes. I wasn't overwhelmed by this month's box, but I'm excited to try some of the products. Here is the rundown:
First off, I AM SO EXCITED to try the SKIN&Co body gel. It smells sooo good and appears to be a really great product! I will definitely post a review on this product! I'm also a eye cream junkie, so I'm definitely going to try the StriVectin Eye Cream. I'm sure I'll try the rest of the products, however I'm just not quite as excited as I have been, in the past few months, with this box. This month Birchbox worked with Women's Health Magazine- there is a subscription card inside the box as well.
I love POPSUGAR Must Have boxes! I don't know if it's because you get such a variety of products, but I love this box. This month's was not my favorite, but it was definitely still worth the money and it was exciting to receive! Here are the products:
5. The Green Garmento Four-In-One Reusable Dry-Cleaning Bag (as the backdrop)
For me, the garment bag was enough to make this box worth the money! It is such good quality and can be used as a bag, hanging garment bag, hamper & dry cleaning bag. I absolutely love this bag! I'm definitely going to try the kai oil. I'm not a huge fragrance person but this seems light and not overwhelming. I've always wanted to try Beauty Papers - so I will definitely try these! The bracelet is very cute and well made. It will be a great addition to my arm when I stack bracelets. :) Which I love to do! I'm probably not going to eat the dark chocolate. Nothing against the product, I just don't like dark chocolate in general.
Well that's it for April 2013! I hope you enjoyed! If you would like to subscribe or check out any of these services please click on the sites provided in this post! If there are any products you would like me to review, on it's own blog post, let me know in the comments below! Do you get any subscription boxes sent to you?? If so, which ones? Let me know!
Have a good day and a better tomorrow,
Ashley & Caren
*please note that I did not receive any of these items free. I bought these subscription boxes with my own money. I am not affiliated with any of the companies above. :)
New blog posts coming next week!!! Come back on EARTH DAY (Monday April 22nd)!!!!
We have our March/April Beauty and Fashion Favorites, Our Best Tips for packing your luggage when you travel, new headbands and more!!!!! Don't forget to come back on Monday!
Until then, have a good day and a better tomorrow!
Welcome to MY OFFICE TOUR! I spend a ton of time in my office, at the studio, and I thought I would show you where I work everyday! I hope you enjoy :)
In the photo above, you can see my computer, planner, new hair tie (post coming later this week!! VERY EXCITING!), iPhone and Coffee!!! I would not function if I didn't have coffee in my life.... it's a problem.
On the side of my desk is a quote my mom found on Pinterest... I love it. I worry WAY too much for my own good.. so this is a nice reminder.. Next to it is a LOVELY picture my lil' cousin Bryar drew for me :)
I absolutely adore photos... and I LOVE to decorate with lots and lots of them! I have a few framed, a few on an Eiffel Tower photo holder, a "Keep Calm & Carry On" poster from Amsterdam..side note: I bought this before it was everywhere but whateves. I LIKE IT! So i'm going to keep it up!
If you look in the back of the previous photo, you can see a lovely drawing by my friend Nico! One summer I spent 3 months performing at a dinner theater, in Michigan, and she drew this for everyone in the cast. It was an amazing summer with some freakin' AMAZING people! So thank you, Nico! I will forever treasure this piece of art!!
Another section of my office with MORE PHOTOS! Surprise! On the far left side, you can see a photo of my High School Graduation.. yes those are wedding dresses We had a 16 count curtsy too- WAHBAM! The little pink teacup houses my thumbtacks for our studio bulletin board. The two paintings on the right I bought at a small shop on Abbot Kinney (in Los Angeles) when I lived in Marina del Rey. It was a cool, eclectic gift shop that I LOVED! And now miss. You can find this artist HERE. (papyalicious is the artist) The painting on the left, I purchased in AGAIN a fun gift store on Sanibel Island. Diane Duda is the artist for this one. You can find this artist HERE.
We moved into our current building in January of 2004. It was my senior year in High School, and "Wicked" had just premiered on Broadway. I love the song "For Good." I painted some lyrics on my wall and had my dance friends sign below. Unfortunately, it's getting hard to see the signatures :( boo! I feel old.
Another part of my office. Decorated bulletin board, lady display for our headbands, a Harajuku Girl pad of paper, books, and more! In the Eiffel Tower box is extra "one-of-a-kind" headbands for Kdottie Designs.
I started collecting little Vinyl Collectibles a LONG time ago... and here is my little collection. My favorites are the Disney Vinylmation guys and the Hello Kitty ones. Every time we go to Disneyland or Disney World, I have to get a few! They come in blind boxes (so you have NO idea what your getting!) I'm horrible about picking good ones out, but Patrick (my fiance) is the BEST at picking the right ones!
So i'm starting to realize my office may be a 6 year old girls dream office... OH WELL! 6 is way more fun then 27 anyway! I do have a whole drawer dedicated to fun, cute stationary. Again, I"M A SUCKER FOR GIFT AND STATIONARY STORES! Who needs realistic, useful things when you can by fun items that you don't need!!! Do we see a pattern? And who wouldn't love to get a letter with a Hello Kitty Showgirl on it!? I MEAN REALLY!? You must hate life if that wouldn't make you laugh to yourself seeing that in your mailbox. Life is WAY too short to have ugly stationary. Wise words by ashley.
Last but not least, a little photo collage of Patrick and myself. He hates this frame of photos but I LOVE IT! :) So it's here to stay! :)
That's all for today! Check back tomorrow for a nail art tutorial for St. Patty's Day!! I'm going to try and do a video... but if that fails i'll have photos!
What does your office look like? If you don't have one, where do you do your homework? Do you have a special work space? Comment below and let me know!! OR you can send my photos via instagram! Just #kdottie85
I asked one of my Contemporary Lyrical classes to wear their favorite dance class outfit last night! I have always thought that "dancer fashion" was unique, fun and should be shared much more then it usually is online! So i'm going to change that!!!!!
As dancers we live in our dancewear... leotards & tights, sweatpants and jackets, booty shorts and oversized shirts.. it's our uniform.
Part 1 of our "The Dancer Diaries" Fashion Favorites: My Lyrical 3 Class!!!
It's been a while... but we are BACK and ready as ever! We've missed you all, and we can't wait to get back to blogging! We might even get into video blogs (or vlogging if you will) soon, but for now lets get going on our FEBRUARY FAVORITES!!!
A few years ago, I used to be really into burning candles (especially during Christmas time!) I thought it was time to bring back the candles! My mom and I found this "Watercolors" candle, by Kringle Candle Company, at a local home decor/antique store near our house! I don't know what Watercolors smell like- but if it's like this candle they smells amazing!!! I'm not a huge fan of strong smelling candles (makes my head hurt), but this has a soft, floral scent that's just perfect! Click HERE for info on this candle.
Two words... NAIL POLISH.... Obsessed.
As far as skin and hair care, these are a few new products I tried and loved this past month!
1. TRESemme Color Revitalize Shampoo- I think I've FINALLY found a shampoo I like! WAHOO!! It cleans well, helps keep my color longer in my hair, doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy, and it's just lovely! After months of searching- I've found a great shampoo!
3. Jurlique Rosewater Mist- I like to spray this on my face after getting out of the shower, washing my face, or just whenever my face feels dry. It has a slight scent but nothing overwhelmning at all! It's especially nice in the summer when it's so hot :) It also lasts a really long time- which is nice considering the price!
4. Dead Sea Essentials Witch Hazel Hand Cream- I'm really really picky about hand cream. It can NOT stand if a cream makes my hands sticky after applying it. This is the best hand cream I've tried in a while! It moisterizes while leaving the hands smooth not sticky! It's just great!
2. Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Light - It's a Primer, Concelear and Foundation all in one! WHAT UP!?!?! It does not leave any sticky residue behind- it dries almost like a powder which is awesome! Not cakey- just Fabulous!
3. e.l.f. essential shimmering facial whip in Pink Lemonade - Press a tad of it on the top of your cheek bones and it adds a great glow to your skin! And it's 1$! CRAZY!? I love ELF cosmetics!
4. Cover Girl & Olay Simply Ageless Corrector- I use this for an undereye correcter. I have dark circles and I need it! It works, it doesn't sink into fine lines and it covers it up!
5. Benefits POREfessional- I have no idea how this works but it works! It cover pores and creates a smooth surface on your skin. Absolutely brilliant!
I have a ton more! But i'll save those for another post later this month! Thanks for reading! We are so so happy to be blogging again! Please keep coming back and reading - Don't forget to comment too!
What are some of your favorites from the month of February? Make-Up/Food/Books/etc.. Let us know!! Also, let us know if you are interested in us doing video blogs too!
Have a good day and a better tomorrow! Ashley & Caren
I always LOVE to hear about peoples' favorite beauty products!! I search high and low to learn about new and old products that work! I especially love to hear what make-up artists, backstage at fashion shows, love and use. I feel like with the amount they have to deal with, and on such a huge stage, that they MUST know the best of what's out there! So without further ado- here are my picks:
For moisturizer, I love Origins "A Perfect World"- SPF 25 cream. It's light, has SPF and does not leave my face sticky which is a major plus. I hate moisturizers that leave your face sticky! yuck! I also use Origins' "GinZing" eye cream. It's amazing when you pat it under one eye, and the other then looks weird because the cream has lifted and depuffed your eye. One of my FAVORITE products is Caudalie's Eau de Beauty spray. I'm going to be completely honest and say I have no idea what it's supposed to do, but I DO KNOW that I love the feeling of my skin when I spritz it on. I usually put it on before my moisterizer or sometimes I use it instead of cream at night (especially after a shower). My face always breaks out when I use cream at night, but this little spray seems to do the trick and my face stays clear. A really great hand cream isL'Occitane Creme Mains. Great and non sticky for the winter time!
I recently became addicted to the Clarisonic Classic Skin Care system. The blue bottle on the left is one of three face cleaners that come with the system. I love to use it, with the brush, at the end of the day. I feel like it gets the remaining makeup off, cleanses deep into the skin, and again helps prevent breakouts. This next product I will forever use and will tell EVERYONE I KNOW how amazing it is- Bioderma Crealine H20. This is the MOST AMAZING EYE MAKE UP REMOVER EVER!!! It doesn't burn your eyes, it takes all the makeup off, and it comes in a huge containner that lasts a long time. Cetaphilhas been my go to face cleanser since middle school. I use it most days to just cleanse my face. If every dermetologist I have ever been to recommends it- I'm good to go! The last product is Ponds Cold Cream. Thanks to a friend who performed with me this summer- I am in love with this stuff! With makeup that is stuborn or heavy- this is THE STUFF to remove it! Just put it on, swish it around your face a lot, then remove with a makeup remover cleansing cloth- and it's ALL GONE! Even my eyelash glue, for the show, was gone! Absolutely amazing stuff!
Well I hope you enjoyed my beauty picks for October! Do you have any products that you could not live without? Let us know and comment below!
